Elisabeth Beatrix O’Neill, 86, a devoted mother and grandmother, of Englewood, Fl and formerly of Norwalk, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love and inspiration. Born in Tilburg, Netherlands, the daughter of the late Adrian and Mathilda (Schraven) Hamers, Elisabeth came to the United States with her family at the age of 13.
Elisabeth was a fun-loving spirit, cherished by all who knew her. Her greatest joy came from helping others, always ready with a warm smile or a helping hand. One of her proudest achievements came later in life when she earned a Bachelor of Liberal Studies from Florida State College, reflecting her unwavering determination and love for learning. Beloved wife of the late Edward O’Neill. She is survived by her beloved older sister, Marthe and brother-in-law, Saul Geringer. Her legacy of love and resilience will live on in the hearts of her beloved children, Bob Gibson and wife, Suzanne; Bill Burns and wife Corrine; Don Burns and wife Kathy; Karen Burns and Dave Perry; Barbara and Rich Cunningham and her beloved late son, Tom Burns and wife Kim. She was a loving devoted mother to her stepdaughter, Jennifer O’Neill. She cherished her many grandchildren dearly, each of whom brought her immense joy.
Elisabeth dedicated her life to nurturing her family and spreading pure love and kindness. Her warmth, wisdom, and infectious laughter brought joy to everyone around her. Her unwavering faith guided her throughout her life and was a source of strength to her family and friends. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered for the light and love she brought into our lives.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM Thursday October 31st at St Matthew Church, 216 Scribner Ave. Norwalk with burial to follow at Riverside Cemetery, Norwalk
