Please share a memory of Carol to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Carol Joan Merdinolu, a tremendously compassionate woman, passed away peacefully at home with her daughter by her side, on July 28, 2024. Born on June 20, 1937, in Bronx, NY, Carol was the beloved daughter of the late Harry and Jean Egnor. Carol’s life was marked by her dedication to her family. She met the love of her life, Dr. Murat Merdinolu, while working as a nurse at Grasslands Hospital, where he was a medical intern. They were married in 1959 and shared a profound and enduring love throughout their lives together. Carol and Murat raised a wonderful family with so many fond memories to be cherished. Her husband passed away in March of 2017 and Carol missed him terribly. Carol was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, known affectionately as Nana. Her compassion and kindness touched the lives of many. Her eldest, Arthur Merdinian, lives in St. Louis, MO with his wife Anne Merdinian. He has three children: Riley, Sara, and Charlie and two step-sons, Henry and William. Riley is married to Tyler Davis and has a child, Nana's first great grandchild, Lainey. Their daughter, Christine Merdinian Valdez, lives with her husband Frank in Madison, CT. Their daughters are Madeline and Emma. All of her family visited her often and surrounded her with love until the very end. In 2013, Carol and her husband moved to Madison, CT to be closer to family. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild brought her the greatest pride and happiness in life. She was a kind and loving woman who seldom thought of herself and would do anything for her family and friends. Carol had a deep love for the beach and spending time on the water. She cherished days spent on Long Island Sound at the Shore and Country Club and the Noroton Yacht Club. She also enjoyed sailing and cruising with family and her dear close friends up and down the coast and in the British Virgin Islands, creating countless treasured memories. Carol is also survived by her two younger brothers, Harry, his partner Barbara Leland, and Richard Egnor, who will remember her fondly and whose music filled her with joy even in her last days. Services are Friday August 2, 2024. A short wake will be held from 10:00-10:30 a.m., with the funeral following directly after both at the Armenian Church of the Holy Ascension. Carol will be buried next to her husband, Murat, and his father in Riverside Cemetery in Norwalk, CT. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Armenian Church of the Holy Ascension, 1460 Huntington Turnpike, Trumbull, CT 06611. Carol’s legacy of care, devotion and love will forever live on in the hearts of her family and friends. She will be deeply missed and finally be at peace again with her husband.
