Karla Y. Mejia Sanchez of Norwalk passed away on Thursday, July 18th, 2024 at Yale New Haven Hospital, surrounded by her loved ones. Born September 12th, 1981, in Honduras.

Karla was diagnosed with Medulloblastoma in 2021, followed by Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS) and Acute Myeloid Leukemia in 2023. Through her cancer journey, she taught those around her what it looks like to live life selflessly, with bravery, and always leading with kindness.

Karla battled with resilience and strength which was admired by anyone who knew her. Even in her final moments, her priority was making sure her loved ones felt safe, cared for, and loved.

She was an active member at St. Joseph’s Church in Norwalk and spent countless hours volunteering at church events and masses.

She is survived by daughters Mariela (25) and her fiancé Alex (30), Alexa (19), and Candy (17); by her son David (9); and by her husband Jose (48). Karla will forever be a bright guiding light to her family and loved ones.

Friends may call, Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue, Norwalk. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:00 AM in St. Joseph’s Church, 85 S Main St, Norwalk. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, 81 Riverside Ave, Norwalk, CT.
