Bernard (Sonny) Scott entered eternal rest on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at the Norwalk Hospital at the age of 85. Bernard, the son of the late Clarence and Beatrice Scott and was born on May 10, 1938, in Norwalk, CT. Bernard was one of seventeen children and a lifelong resident of Norwalk. He worked for the City of Norwalk, Department of Public Works for 32 years as a Maintainer II worker and retired in September of 2000. Bernard is survived by his niece and caregiver Stephanie Scott-Verner, two sisters Beatrice Lopez of Norwalk, and Doris Bell of Fort Meyers, FL, and many nieces, nephews, family and friends. He was preceded by nine brothers Clarence Scott, Jr., Leon Scott, James Scott, Castile Scott, Isadore Scott, Joseph Scott, Sr., Donald Scott, Perry Scott and Leroy Scott; five sisters: Marion Bradley, Elma Jean Hargrove, Eleanor Wells, Joan Mcrea, and Marie Johnson. Bernard loved music, he played the flute and bongos and a variety of other instruments without any training. In his younger years you would see him walking around town with his boombox on his shoulder with the music blaring. He also enjoyed fishing and clamming. Bernard was known for his tam hats. His co-workers referred to him as “Tall Man” because of his height and he was very proud of it. Bernard will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, December 8, 2023 at 11:00 AM. Calvary Baptist Church 21 Concord Street Norwalk, CT. Family will receive friends from 10:00AM until time of service at the church. SERVICES
