Irene Saltourides Batzios, 79, of Norwalk passed away on Thursday, October 5, 2023, at Norwalk Hospital with her family at her side.

Born in Greece on October 10, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Anastasios and Eleni Lafazanides Saltourides.

Irene worked for over 30 years at the Norwalk Hospital where she eventually retired. She loved to spend time in her garden and crocheting. Most of all she loved being with her family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Irene is survived by her daughter Eleni Papahristou and her husband Stavros of Plantsville, CT, son John Lazaridis of Norwalk, CT, and George Batzios of Norwalk, CT, three grandchildren: Petros Papahristou, Evangelos Papahristou (Brianne), and Antonios Papahristou, two great grandchildren: Elianna and Stavros. She is also survived by her Brother Lazaros Saltourides (Effie), and sister Despina Koulidakis (Panagiotis), and by many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Irene was predeceased in life by three brothers: Konstantinos, John , and Christos ; four sisters: Sofia, Anatoli, Paraskevi, and Parthena.

Visitation will be held on Monday, October 9, from 9:00 to 10:00 AM at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 238 West Rocks Road, Norwalk. Services will begin at 10:00 AM and burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery, 81 Riverside Avenue, Norwalk.
