Michael Ronald Keels, 64, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2023 at his residence. He was born February 19, 1959 in Norwalk, Connecticut to the late Edward Keels, Sr. and Josephine Gilmore Keels. He graduated from Brien McMahon High School and the University of Connecticut with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work and continued numerous courses at Norwalk Community College. Michael was employed with the State of Connecticut for a period of time. His favorite hobbies were reading and writing. His memory will be treasured by two aunts; Cora Keels and Vivian Keels, three nieces; Hawanya Keels Lima (Kenny), Najuma Keels and Lisha Smith (Anthony), two great nieces; Sydney Lima and Olivia Hancock (Jovan), four great nephews; Miles Lima, Xavier Lima and Anthony Smith, Jr., a devoted cousin and caregiver; Joyce Shular (Ezzell), two special childhood friends; Eugene Moseley and Sybil Robinson and a host of cousins and friends. Michael was also predeceased by his brother, Edward Keels, Jr., five aunts; Mazzie Williams, Jessie Mae Abraham, Julia Butler, Rosa Mae Keel and Catherine “Kitty” Gilmore, five uncles; George Keels, Earl Keels, Jake Keels, Jake Gilmore and John “Red” Gilmore. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 6, 2023 from 10:00 am – 11:00 am, followed by a service of celebration at 11:00 am at Grace Baptist Church, 17 West Ave., Norwalk, CT., Rev. Dr. Lindsay E. Curtis officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Norwalk.
