Benjamin "Joe" Stewart was born March 18, 1931 in Savannah , Georgia to the late Reather Wilcox and Joseph Bryant Sr. He was raised by his late grandparents, Thomas and Ollie Stewart. Benjamin attended school in Savannah, enlisted in the Army on August 9, 1951, where he fought in the Korean War to protect his country. He honorably discharged from the Army on May 8, 1953. He married the love of his life, Mary Robinson in 1954 and later relocated to Harlem, New York with his two small children and later moved to Norwalk, Connecticut due to the fast pace of New York City. Benjamin was an avid churchgoer and loved the Lord and went to church every Sunday up until illness prevented him from doing so. He was employed by BeiersDorf of Norwalk, which he retired from. Benjamin continued to work as a construction worker and a member of the laborer's union for many years. Benjamin was a very outgoing man who loved his family and gardening. He leaves to mourn a brother, Reuben Bryant of Buford, SC, his children, Daniel Stewart (Gwen), Sonia Oliver, Bryant Stewart (Robin), Andre Stewart, Emma Ramdeen, Andre Morgan, and Gail Bell. Grandchildren Demetrielle Stackhouse, Danielle Stewart, DeAndria Wilson (Tyron), Keianna Federici (Brian), Tewauana Brown (Hamani), Andre Stewart Jr., Aaron Stewart (Ashley), Essense Broome, Bryant Stewart Jr. (Gabrielle), Carl Oliver Jr., Brendan Stewart, Latrel Stewart, Kobe Stewart, Andrea Walls, Ashley Walls, Carlethia Townsend, Cathy Darden (Don), Yolanda Jackson and a host of nieces and nephews. His great grandchildren include Leah Pettway, Eryn and Amira Stackhouse, Tyron Wilson Jr., Jayden DeJesus, Arianna and August Stewart, Brian and Charlie Federici, Amina, Bailey, Colton, Darius, Elias, Fareed, Giannis, and Havah Brown, Rosalie Stewart and Ava Smith. In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his daughter Sharon Stewart, his siblings Nathaniel, Joseph Jr., Willa Mae, and Josephine and nephew Willie Stewart.
