Orie was born to the late Flossie and Paul Jenkins on May 30, 1934, in Holly Hill, SC. He attended Daniel Jenkins School in Charleston, SC. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Army in 1952. He served 3 years during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1956 He relocated to join his mother in Connecticut where he met and married his late wife Cooper. Orie was a short order cook, but he’s most known as the comedian “Soup Bone”. He got his start at the Red Carpet and The Terrace in Norwalk CT. He traveled throughout the United States and Canada performing with the likes of Millie Jackson, Johnny Taylor, and Billy Stewart to name a few. Orie loved to watch wrestling. This was something he did every Monday and Friday with his nephew Mike. If you knew how much he loved wrestling, you knew not to call during those hours or you would hear those famous words “I’ll call you back, I’m watching wrestling” in a not so nice voice. Click One of his past-time hobbies included playing and making music on his Kalimba box and if you ever went to his home, he would show you his wall of honor with all his ribbons, metals, and accolades. He was proud to be a veteran and serve his country. Orie was predeceased by 3 Sisters Corrine Addison, Ethel Garvins, and Lillie Mae Johnson, 1 brother James Jenkins. He is survived by his children Gregory Jenkins and Sharon Jenkins both of Bridgeport, CT and Randy Oliver of Massachusetts, 5 grandchildren LaShanda, Rashawn, Brandon, Gionnie, and Evoine, 2 great grands Tyanna and Saquan, 2 Sisters Dorothy Jenkins (Norwalk, CT) and Catherine Ruffin (Lithonia, GA) and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, June 9, 2023 at 11:00 AM. Canaan Institutional Baptist Church, 31 Concord St, Norwalk CT. Family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until time of service at the church. Interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery 81 Riverside Ave, Norwalk CT
