Lillie Mae was born to the late Flossie and Paul Jenkins on April 8th,1930 in Holly Hill S.C she attended Daniel Jenkins School in Charleston, S.C. Lillie married the late Leroy (Sonny) Johnson in 1951 in Charleston S.C. Sonny was in the military, so they traveled extensively and lived in many states; New Jersey, Hawaii, California and Missouri to name a few. While living here in Norwalk Lillie was both manager and bartender at The Downbeat and the Green Lantern. She was also a former member of Rose of Sharon Temple 1170 I.B.P.O.E of W Norwalk, CT. She left Connecticut and moved to South Carolina before relocating to Florida where she worked for and eventually retired from the Florida School system. Although retired she still worked and cared for children. She had a soft spot for babies and little children, and she loved to entertain them. Lillie loved to travel, go on cruises and entertain in her home, she was famously known for throwing exclusive dinner parties and dressed like she was a vogue model. Lillie stayed sharp from head to toe and took no mess from anybody! Up until the end she had a sense of humor and it was her way or the highway - she will be greatly missed by us all. Lillie was predeceased by her only son Kenneth Johnson two sisters Corine Addison and Ethel Garvins, one brother James Jenkins. Lillie is survived by siblings Dorothy Jenkins, Orie Jenkins (Norwalk, CT) and Catherine Ruffin (Lithonia, GA); Special friends Barbara Campbell (Stratford, CT) and Alice Mann (Norwalk, CT) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, May 5, 2023 at 11:00 AM, Little Zion Church of Christ, 4 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Norwalk, CT.
