Obituary of Gwendolyn Lawrence

Gwendolyn Carol Lawrence, age 57 of Norwalk, CT, passed away on June 20, 2019 at Norwalk Hospital.  She was born in Williamston, North Carolina on October 21, 1961.  She attended the Williamston Public Schools and graduated from Williamston High School.  She was then married to James Arthur Lawrence and whisked off to the military life, right after high school. She then pursued her education by attending and graduating from the Cosmetology School in Augusta, Georgia.  A few years later, the family got large with 2 children, Jamie Carol and Glenn Arthur.  After several years of military life overseas, Gwen decided to raise her children in the U.S. as they started to get older, settling in Connecticut, while her husband did his last tour in Germany. 

Gwen’s life in Connecticut took her on a great journey.  She worked at Lord & Taylor’s for 4 yrs., State of Connecticut Schools for 12 years where she took an early retirement.  In 2015, she graduated from Lincoln Technical Institute, Shelton, CT in Culinary Arts and Food Services (Chef).  She opened her own business, La’Roc’s Cuisine in 2016.

Gwen had the love for family, friends, music and line dancing.  Gwen had a heart for people.  Gwen was a 6-year Breast Cancer Survivor and the doctor just announced on Friday, June 14, 2019 that she was Leukemia free.  She fought battle after battle with Cancer and survived but God loves her more than we ever could. 

Gwen leaves behind her mother, husband; 2 children; 5 siblings and 5 grandchildren, godchildren, nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins, extended families and friends.
