Sarkis Kaolian, 99, husband of Heidrun (Gnauck) Kaolian of Norwalk passed away on Monday, September 5, 2022 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his family. Born at home in Bridgeport, CT on December 4, 1922, he was the son of the late Howard and Florence (Mazlemian) Kaolian and was predeceased by his brother Morgan Kaolian. In addition to his wife of 55 years, Sarkis is survived by his sons, Alexander, Christopher and Gregory of Norwalk, CT, his nephew Kit Kaolian and many nephews and nieces in Germany. Sarkis was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S Army Aircorps in the Pacific before returning to receive a degree in Engineering from the University of Bridgeport. Sarkis was a proud of his long career at IBM before retiring and enjoying his work with the United Way of Norwalk and Wilton and spending time with friends at the New Canaan YMCA. In addition to looking after his family, he always looked forward to a good home-grown tomato from his garden, sitting by the fireplace with his family and enjoying a cigar with friends. A wake will be held on Wednesday, September 7, with calling hours from 5 to 7 PM at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue, Norwalk. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, September 8, at 10:00 AM at the Armenian Church of the Holy Ascension, 1460 Huntington Turnpike, Trumbull. The Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, 81 Riverside Ave, Norwalk. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to either Armenian Church of the Holy Ascension, 1460 Huntington Turnpike, Trumbull, CT 06611 or a gift to support Nursing Education at Norwalk Hospital, 34 Maple Street, Norwalk, CT 06856.
