Sharon H. Monroe

Sharon Hope Monroe was a caring wife, mother, godmother, sister, and friend. She was affectionately known as Lady to all. She left this world suddenly on April 27, 2022 at the age of 62, at her home, in Longs, South Carolina. She was born to Joseph C Monroe, Sr., and Rose Lee (Whisnant) Monroe on

May 5, 1959, in Norwalk, Connecticut.

After graduating high school, Lady earned an Associate's Degree and began a career as a certified surgical technologist. She was exceptionally skilled and was frequently praised for her contributions in the operating room. Lady trained at and was employed at Norwalk Hospital. She eventually moved to Cincinnati, Ohio, where she continued working and eventually married and raised a family. She was extremely proud of her 3 boys: Brian, Patrick and Nathaniel.

Lady was an excellent cook and enjoyed spending time in the kitchen creating delicious meals. The boys' friends would always love to stay for dinner to sample her recipes. She was extremely vibrant and outgoing and was an excellent hostess and loved to entertain family and friends. Lady would frequently reminisce about her childhood spent at the family home on Goldstein Place. This was a formative and happy time in her life. It was filled with memories of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends with time spent at the beach and the ballfields.

In addition to her 3 boys, Lady is survived by her siblings, Joseph Jr., Frances, Myron, and Nancy; as well as numerous extended family members and friends. Her grandparents, Thomas C and Ella D Monroe, one of the founders of Calvary Baptist Church, and her parents Joseph C. Monroe, Sr., and Rose Lee Monroe, passed away prior to her passing and will reunite with her in the afterlife.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, July 15, 2022 at Calvary Baptist Church, 21 Concord St., Norwalk 06854, at 10am.
