Rev. Margaret L. Bishop McCready, age 84, transitioned with grace and peace on Thursday, March 17, 2022 surrounded by her family. She was born April 13, 1937 in Marion Station, Maryland to the late Roger Bishop and Esther Lucille Evans Bishop. Rev. McCready was preceded in death by her husband James Coley McCready. She received a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree from Bowie State University. She served as a bank officer with Merchants Bank for over thirty years and continued her banking career with Union Trust Bank until retirement. Her life was a living example of serving, loving and nurturing the hearts of all who knew her. Rev. McCready’s legacy will be treasured by her daughter Rev. Brenda McCready Shannon and her husband Bishop James Shannon, her son; Michael McCready, six grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, a special granddaughter; Amber McCready, two brothers; Charles Evans and William Bishop (Vinette), six sisters; Sandria Burton, Jeanette Holland, Elizabeth Goldsmith (Jasper), Alice Manyarara, Joyce Graves (Joseph) and Viola Davis (Calvin), special son; Pernell Williams, special brother in law; Harold McCready (Joan McCready) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was also preceded in death by her son James C. McCready, Jr., grandson; Coley McCready, great grandson; Javari Taylor and her sister Gloria Whittington and stepmother Marvis Bishop. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 24, 2022 from 10:00 am – 11:00 am followed by a service of celebration at Bethel AME Church, 19 Academy St., Norwalk, CT. with Rev. Dr. Richard Wesley Clarke officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Norwalk.
