Guestbook Apostolos “Pappou” Melitsanopoulos June 06, 1937 - January 04, 2022 Apostolos “Pappou” Melitsanopoulos, 84, of Norwalk, passed away Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at Norwalk Hospital. Born June 6, 1937 in Meliki, Greece, Apostolos joins in heaven his beautiful wife Anna Angelidis Melitsanopoulos, adored son Konstantinos “Dino” Melitsanopoulos, and countless relatives and loved ones. Apostolos immigrated to Norwalk in 1969, searching for a better life for his family. He made the difficult decision to leave his wife Anna, son Dino and daughter Foula behind in Greece, until he could save enough money to send for them. A master of many trades, he quickly found work as a shoemaker, while acclimating himself to his new surroundings. After two years of working and saving money, he was able to welcome his family to America. Like many others in the Greek community, Apostolos secured a job at Pepperidge Farm in Norwalk, where he was a loyal and dedicated worker for over 25 years. He appreciated his job and co-workers with whom he shared his time for so many years. Apostolos was a man of great discipline, character, and routine. He could easily be found frequenting the local Greek markets, Stew Leonard’s, and Calf Pasture Beach walking with his friends. If he wasn’t walking at Calf Pasture Beach, he could be found enjoying himself fishing, socializing on the pier, and feeding the squirrels. More than anything else, he loved spending time with his family. Words cannot express the impact Apostolos had on his family. The Patriarch of his family, he set the foundation for his loved ones and future family to come. Apostolos is survived by his daughter Foula Theodoridis, son-in-law John Theodoridis, daughter-in-law Martha Melitsanopoulos, six grandchildren who love him dearly, Paul, Danny, Dean, Suzy, Anna, Andrew, their significant others, and his adored great-granddaughters Lena, Zoey and Emilia. A gentle man with a kind smile, loving heart, and wisdom well beyond his years, Apostolos “Pappou” Melitsanopoulos will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. Services will be on Friday, January 7, at 11 AM at St. George Greek Orthodox Church (238 West Rocks Road, Norwalk, CT). The burial will directly follow at Riverside Cemetery, Norwalk, CT. All donations will be made to St. George Greek Orthodox Church.
