Karen Brown, at 68 years of age, passed on Sabbath, August 14, 2021 at Yale New Haven Hospital. Karen was born on December 28, 1952, in Norwalk, Connecticut. She is the 2nd oldest daughter of 9 children born to Lionel Clark Sr. and Evelyn Clark. She graduated from Brien McMahon High School, Class of 1971. She married Thomas Brown in 1975 and two children were born from this union. At an early age, she, along with her family, dedicated their lives to Christ and was baptized at Calvary SDA Church in Bridgeport, Connecticut. In the late 1970s, her parents were among the founding members of the Norwalk Seventh Day Adventist Church, to which she became a chartered member as well. Karen had several employers over the course of her life, however she began working for Knights of Columbus in 2004, who’s contract sent her to Bristol Meyers in Wallingford, Connecticut, where she retired in 2015. Karen loved her family. She is fondly referred to as the Matriarch of the Clark family. Her Christian faith led her, not only to love, but also minister to her family and friends, not just by her words, but leading by example. She loved to cook and was well known for delicious vegetarian cooking, because as she always said, “It has to taste good!” She is preceded in death by her father, Lionel Clark, Sr., her mother, Evelyn Clark, her two sisters from her father’s prior marriage, Thelma Clark Mason and Irene Marshall. Her sister Fern McCready, her brother Lionel Clark Jr, and her sister Robin Clark. She leaves to cherish her loving memory, her husband Thomas Brown, her two children Christopher Brown and Lourdez Thompson, her two brothers Elder Reginald Clark Sr. and Matthew Clark, Sr., her three sisters, Bernette Clark‐Obienu, Kathy Clark, and April Smalls, five grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, August 23, 2021 at 11:00 AM, Norwalk Seventh Day Adventist Church, 101 South Main Street, Norwalk, CT. Family will receive guest from 10:00 AM until time of the service at the church. Interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery, 81 Riverside Avenue, Norwalk, CT.
