Mary L. Vita April 5, 1919 - June 6, 2021 Mrs. Vita was a well known and active member of the Norwalk community and her church for many years. At 102 years of age, she had a long and wonderful life. She was predeceased in 2000 by her husband Rocco A. Vita. They lived in Norwalk since their marriage in 1948. Mary was born in Stamford, CT and was the daughter of Charles and Maria Rinaldi Trombetta. She is survived by her son Dom Vita and his wife Jan of Saint Augustine, FL as well as daughters Maria Shapiro and Lorraine Kennedy, both of Westport. Additionally, Mrs. Vita has nine loving grandchildren: Melissa Vita Figueroa, Chris Vita, Carrie Vita, Theresa Vita Helmer, Lauren Heinemann, Matthew Heinemann, Kristen Heinemann Scherb, Christina Kennedy and Michelle Kennedy. She also is survived by nine great-grandchildren who constantly brightened her life: Alan Baez, Mercedes Figueroa, Brighton Helmer, Harry Helmer, Lexi Lewis, Griffin Lewis, Wyatt Scherb, Mirabelle Scherb, Blake Heinemann, Carter Heinemann and Eliana Vita. As the oldest of six siblings, she is survived by her sisters Dorothy Annunziata of Stamford, CT and Antoinette Fusaro of Myrtle Beach, SC. She was predeceased by her brother Joseph Trombetta and sisters Theresa DeMasi, Rosalie Garfano and Patricia Gerardi. She has 15 nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue, Norwalk, on the morning of Thursday, June 10th, from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. Mass at 12:00 p.m. will follow at Saint Phillip Church, 1 Father Conlon Place, Norwalk. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery, 81 Riverside Avenue, Norwalk. Due to Covid 19, guests are requested to wear masks and maintain appropriate social distancing. Donations in Mary's memory may be made to Family and Children's Agency, 9 Mott Avenue Norwalk, CT 06850. Flowers are also appreciated.
