Robert (Bob) E. Dennen Sr., 84, of Norwalk CT, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2019 with his loving family by his side. He is predeceased by his beloved wife Lorraine Dennen. He is survived by his adoring four children and their spouses - Robert and Maryann Dennen of Bronxville, NY; Mark and Joanie Dennen of Healdsburg, CA; Laura and Tim Callahan of Wilton, CT; and Steve and Maura Dennen of Ashburn, VA - and his beloved grandchildren - Chris, Cara, Tommy, Jack, Alexandra, Matt, Patrick and Fiona Dennen; Conor, Cait and Owen Callahan; and Jessica and Steve Greene. Bob was born October 9, 1935 in Queens, NY to Joseph and Marie Dennen. He is a military veteran having served active duty from 1955 - 1957 as an MP at Ft Hood, Texas and in the Reserves until 1962. Bob earned both his Bachelor’s Degree and MBA going to school at night while raising his family and working full-time. Bob was an early pioneer in the field of business information systems, and he founded and ran his own business, Dennen Computer Systems, for nearly 20 years, helping various Fortune 500 companies automate their business processes. He then served as Chief Information Officer for Phillips N.A. Later in his career, his knowledge of early computer systems helped many businesses navigate the Y2K transition. Bob was a 57-year resident of Norwalk. He was a devoted parishioner and Eucharistic Minister at St. Philip Church, and served on their finance committee until his death. He was very active in the community, including various roles at Central Catholic High School and coaching numerous teams in the Cranbury League and with Pop Warner football. Bob and Lorraine were long-time members of Shore & Country Club. Bob was devoted to Lorraine, his wife of 56 years, and missed her intensely after her passing. He was an encouraging and supportive father and grandfather. He attended hundreds of sporting events of his children and grandchildren. His most cherished memories later in life were attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and school performances. He took incredible pride in his children and grandchildren who are his legacy. Bob is also survived by his step-sisters Carleen Slattery and Kathy DeMelio, mother-in-law Josephine Trizzino, brothers- and sisters-in-law - Annette Trizzino; Kathleen Gaglione; Janice & Jay Scansaroli; and John & Catherine Trizzino - as well as many loving nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his sister Joan Newell and his brother-in-laws - Victor Trizzino and Gene Gaglione. “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7
