Parthena Kydes, 91, wife of the late Steve Kydes of Norwalk, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, January 17, 2021 with her family by her side. Born October 5th, 1929 in the small town of Spilia, Greece she immigrated to Norwalk, in 1952 and remained a resident her entire life. A hard worker, she worked at Supreme Slipper for many years and in 1972 she and her husband opened Steve’s Market on Washington Street in South Norwalk now located on Main Street. She was an avid gardener and also loved to cook for her family. Parthena and Steve valued education and encouraged their children to excel. Their love of their church, community and neighborhood was known by many in Norwalk. They sponsored and housed many immigrants to start a new life in the United States. She is survived by her son Andy and his wife Pam of Vienna, Virginia, her daughter Irene Kydes of Norwalk, her daughter Ruth and her husband Nik Papadopoulos of Norwalk and her son Phil Kydes of Norwalk, 13 grandchildren, 17 great grand children and 1 great great granddaughter. Funeral will be held on Thursday January 21st at 10 o’clock am at Saint George Greek Orthodox Church 238 West Rocks Road Norwalk CT. Burial will be private. Anyone wishing can make donations to St Jude’s children’s hospital.
