Obituary of Joan Dorheimer Haessig Whaley

Joan M. (Whaley) Haessig, age 75 of Norwalk, died peacefully at her home on Saturday, November 21, 2020. She was the wife of the late Ira R. Whaley and the late Wayne C. Haessig. Joan was born on February 12, 1945 in Manhattan, NY, the daughter of the late Morton and Mildred (Chartrand) Dornheimer and has lived locally all of her life. She was devoted to her family and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Joan is survived by her loving children Shawn Mercurio of Norwalk and Kipp Whaley of Port Charlotte, FL., and her grandchildren Frankie and Jason Mercurio and many nieces and nephews. Joan was also predeceased by her siblings Richard Dornheimer, Laverne Butler, Peggy Hinson and Edna Pizzano.
Due to the current pandemic, Joan was buried privately next to Ira at Riverside Cemetery in Norwalk and a memorial gathering will be planned for the future. Donations in her name may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project (www.woundedwarriorproject.org)
