Thelma McCrae was born in Santee, SC on June 14, 1930 to the Late Franklin and Narvis Hillard. On Monday, November9, 2020 she entered into eternal rest with the Lord. Thelma was married to the love of her life Charlie McCrae for over 63 Years. She was employed at the Corday Hat Corporation for many years. She enjoyed coming together for Barbeques, making her famous coconut pies, and preparing large meals for family and friends during the holidays. Thelma was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Norwalk Connecticut where she served faithfully until her health failed. She truly loved the Lord until the end, and even on her worst day, she would be found talking about just how good God is. She never, ever wavered in her faith and love for the Lord. Thelma is preceded in death by daughters, Barbara, Debra, Suzette, her grandson Lamont McCrae who she raised, her brothers Charlie Hillard, Franklin Hillard Jr., Robert Hillard, Clarence Hillard, Archie Hillard, and her sisters Bertha Jenkins and Rachel Dash. She leaves to cherish her memory, her devoted husband Charlie McCrae, her daughters Dorothy Givens and Juanita McCrae of Norwalk, CT., Tara Keels of West Haven, CT., and sons Ivory (Deke) Boyd (Gloria) of Santee, SC., Melvin (Butch) McCrae (Patricia) of Norwalk, Charles (Chuck) McCrae of Bloomfield and Anthony (Ant) McCrae of Norwalk, CT., one brother James (Laz) Hilliard (DeDe) of Norwalk, CT., one sister Elouise Henderson of Santee, SC and one brother-in-law Joseph (Joe) Jenkins. She also leaves a host of grandchildren, great-grands, great great-grands, nieces, nephews and friends Funeral Services will be held on Monday, November 16, 2020 12:00 Noon, Baker Funeral Services Chapel, 84 South Main Street, Norwalk, CT. Family will receive guest from 11:00 AM until time of service at the chapel.
