Obituary of Eleni Petridis
Please share a memory of Eleni to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with great sadness that the family of Eleni Petridis announces her passing on Friday, August 21, 2020, at the age of 83.
Eleni will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 64 years, Anastasios Petridis, who always took such pride in caring for her. She was born April 1, 1937 in Spilia, Greece to Christos and Parthena Kyriakides.
Eleni was kind, thoughtful, and witty and always wore a smile. As the matriarch of her family, countless days at Yiayia’s house were spent creating endless memories and enjoying delicious meals. She was an amazing woman who loved her family more than anything and thoroughly enjoyed teaching her grandchildren how to bake, cook, and knit. She always took such pride in her amazing flower gardens and beautiful knittings, as her handmade scarfs, blankets, and booties will forever be cherished by everyone. She was deeply devoted to her religion and instilled a love of the church to all of her family. This strong belief will help us to all get through this and cherish her memory.
Left behind to love her eternally are her three children, Vossi and husband Michael Soumelidis, Lefty Petridis, and John and wife Phyllis Petridis. Her grandchildren, Nick and wife Tonia Soumelidis, Andy and wife Amanda Soumelidis, Tina and husband Joe Tomas, Chris Petridis, Taso Petridis and fiance Mackenzie Gordon, Aleko Petridis, Eleni Petridis, Niko Petridis, and Eleni Panayiota Petridis. Her great grandchildren Michael, Sofia, and Zoe Soumelidis, Elena Tomas, and Vasi Soumelidis.
She is also survived by her adoring brother Anastasios Kyriakides and his wife Anna, and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
She is predeceased by her brothers Nikolaos and Konstantinos Kyriakides.
Her funeral will be held at St. George Greek Orthodox Church on Tuesday, August 25th. Due to the Covid pandemic restrictions, this service will be PRIVATE. The burial will be at Riverside cemetery at 11:00am and is OPEN for all of her friends and extended family that wish to pay their respects. Social distancing and masks are required.
