Mary Willer George Jasper, 93, of Norwalk, Connecticut, passed away on July 10, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was born October 23, 1932, in Baxley, Georgia, the second oldest child of the late Gradie Williams George and the late Simpson George. Mary attended public schools in Baxley and moved to Norwalk in the early 1960s with her mother.

Mary accepted Christ at a young age and for more than 60 years was a devoted member of Grace Baptist Church. She volunteered in the church office and served faithfully on the Usher Board, where she took special joy in mentoring the Junior Ushers. Known affectionately as the “Door Keeper to Grace,” she rarely missed morning worship, afternoon services, or Wednesday noonday service until illness and the pandemic limited her activity. After long days of service, she often returned home to rest and soaked her feet in Epsom salt.

Mary worked for many years at the Meyers Factory making pocketbooks. After the factory closed, she was employed at Deluxe Check Printing and following retirement she worked for several years at Marshall’s. She loved to cook—especially her famous okra and tomatoes—and delighted in watching others enjoy her meals. Mary enjoyed Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, reading her Bible, and doing word searches. One of her favorite pass times was shopping for bargains. She was known for her warm, contagious smile and her quiet, steady love for her family.

She was predeceased by her brothers Elijah George and Cleave George, and her sister Lillian Freeman.

She is survived by her siblings: Charles George of Roanoke, VA; James George of Norwalk, CT; Genevieve Brooks Jones of Detroit, MI; by her children: Gene E. George of Bridgeport, CT; Daniel C. Jasper (Phyllis) of McDonough, GA; Fowler L. Jasper of Immokalee, FL; Sonda J. Thomas (Ronald) of Meriden, CT; by her grandchildren: Rocshay L. Jasper-Thomas (Sara) of Monroe, CT; Stefanie G. Johnson (Ray) of Prospect, CT; Kim Hankins of Mount Laurel, NJ; Dana Jasper of Greensboro, NC; Erica George of VA; by her great-grandchildren: Destinee Thomas; Cyarah Thomas; Chloe Thomas; Kylie Thomas; Cameron Thomas; Genevieve Lilly Johnson; Xayvion Chapman; Terasa Jasper; Zaire Jasper; by her bonus granddaughters: Laila Johnson, Stephanie Johnson, and LaRaina Johnson; by her great-great grandchildren Zorie Withers and Zoriah Withers; and by other relatives and dear friends who will cherish her memory.

Those who knew her will remember her faithful service, generous hospitality, and the bright smile she shared with everyone.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 15th, 2026 from 4:00PM -5:00PM followed by a service of celebration at 5:00PM at Grace Baptist Church, 17 West Ave., Norwalk, CT.

Interment will be held on Thursday July 16th at 11:00AM at Riverside Cemetery in Norwalk
