Andy M. Kydes peacefully passed away on June 7, 2025. Born on December 6, 1936, in the village of Spilia, Kozani, Greece, Andy’s life was a testament to persistence, kindness and love for family.
Immigrating to the United States at the tender age of 15, Andy courageously embarked on a new life in an unfamiliar country. Driven by determination and a remarkable work ethic, he established himself in Norwalk, where he brought warmth and dedication to his craft. Over the years, Andy worked tirelessly in several shoe-making establishments and through unwavering effort, eventually acquired Champion Shoe Repair, affectionately known as “Norwalk’s Cobbler”
He is predeceased by his parents Miltiades and Elisavet and his siblings Theodora and Ioannis.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Helen, his children Elsa, Mickey and George. Grandchildren, Athena, Eleni, George, Christian, Taso, Dimitri and Eleni and great-grandson Apollo.
He is also survived by his sister Morfia and sister in law Maria, his beloved cousin Dimitrios Christoforides, who was like a brother and other countless cousins, nephews and nieces in the United States and abroad.
