Lillie McFadden Obituary

Lillie "Moot" McFadden was a devoted mother, wife, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and cherished friend to many. She passed away peacefully on Friday, March 28, 2025.

Born and raised in Alcolu, South Carolina, Lillie later moved to Brooklyn, NY, before eventually settling in Norwalk, CT, where she spent the rest of her life. She shared many wonderful years with her beloved husband (now deceased) and dedicated herself to raising their children with love, wisdom, and unwavering devotion.

A hardworking and dedicated woman, Lillie retired at the remarkable age of 80. She was the heart and soul of her family, a pillar of strength and warmth. Her deep Christian faith guided her throughout her life, and when she wasn’t in service, she found her greatest joy in spending time with her loved ones.

Affectionately known as "Grandma" to many, her nurturing spirit and boundless love left an unforgettable impact on everyone who knew her. She was an exceptional cook, famous for her Sunday dinners and holiday feasts, where family and friends gathered to share laughter, stories, and love. Her sweet potato pie, a treasured family favorite, was legendary and could never be replicated.

She leaves to cherish her memories;

Sisters: Elaine Dantzler, Daisy Mae Britt, Luethel Wilson (John)

Brothers: Julian Blackwell (Eva), Willie James Blackwell (Danita) and Albertis Blackwell (Deloris)

Her children; Larry Blackwell, Joyce Jackson, and Efrem McFadden. She leaves behind many nieces and nephews, including her special niece Cindee. She also leaves 8 grandchildren, including Nashon who she raised as her own, and 10 great grand children.

Preceding in death was her husband Samuel McFadden, her father Julian Blackwell, her mother Louise "Sweetie" McDowell, her sister Barbara "Bobbi" Blackwell, Marva Brown and Lucille Taylor.

Lillie’s legacy of love, faith, and family will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched.
