Dimitrios Tiftikidis Obituary

Born in Mesovouno “Kremitsa” Greece, on October 20, 1955, to Pavlos and Magdalini Tiftikidis. Dimitrios immigrated to the United States with his parents and siblings in 1972; settling in Norwalk, Connecticut; joining many other Greeks of Pontian heritage. Dimitrios was a graduate of Norwalk High School, class of 1974. In the summer of 1974, he returned to Greece and married Maria (Aivazidis) returning together to Norwalk in September. Dimitrios worked at Pepperidge Farm from 1975 until 1984. Shortly thereafter he and his wife began their lives as restauranters, through the extended Katsetos family of Stamford, Connecticut. Together Dimitrios and Maria worked hard for the next 40 years at Atlantic Pizza fulfilling their own little American dream and raising their three daughters. Dimitrios’ favorite memories included spending summers in Greece with his family and enjoying the simple things in life with his beloved koumbaroi. Dimitrios loved nothing more than spending time in his beloved village of Mesovouno and with his 5 grandchildren. Since his retirement he especially enjoyed creating memories with his children and grandchildren; appreciating the simple joys in life. Dimitrios was a loyal and dependable friend, having had friendships since childhood. He was a man of few words, but his actions spoke volumes—loyal, dependable, and always generous with his time and resources. That was Dimitrios. His legacy is one of quiet but profound impact, a life well lived through love, friendship, and unwavering dedication. Dimitrios will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Dimitrios is survived by his beloved wife Maria and by his three children Anthoula (husband Iraklis), Maggie and Christina (husband Sakis). He also leaves behind his 5 grandchildren, who gave him so much joy; Lena, Demitra, Maria, Georgios, and Dimitrios.

Dimitrios is also survived by his adoring mother Magdalini, and his cherished siblings Antonia (husband Stavros), Taso (wife Kelly) along with several beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family. Dimitrios was also predeceased by his father Pavlos.

The funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 26 at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 238 West Rocks Road, Norwalk. The wake for immediate family is from 9-10 am and friends may greet the family from 10-11 am. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. and interment will immediately follow at Riverside Cemetery, 81 Riverside Avenue, Norwalk.
