Obituary of Kristina Hazel Hanson

Please share a memory of Kristina to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Lifelong Norwalk, CT resident Kristina Hazel Hanson, 80, passed away at home surrounded by family on February 24, 2025, after a battle with cancer. She was born on December 11, 1944. Kristina dedicated nearly 20 years as the Staff Accountant at the Norwalk Senior Center. She was also a notary public, bookkeeper, and licensed hairdresser. A devoted animal lover, she advocated for improved cat vaccine practices in the early 2000s to raise awareness and reduce the risk of vaccine-associated sarcomas. In her youth, Kristina was drawn to adventure. She traveled, co-piloted planes, played the drums, bowled in a league, and explored both sides of the camera—taking pictures and modeling. She will be remembered for her unique sense of humor, playful spirit, and strong-minded nature. She took great pride in knowing that her daughter and granddaughter inherited many of her traits. She is survived by her daughter, Cindy Bourt (Robert) of Monroe, CT; her granddaughter, Heather Stabinsky of Monroe, CT; her dear friend, Claude Vigneault of Norwalk, CT; and her two beloved cats, Cody and Zoey, who will miss her dearly. She was predeceased by her parents, Gunnar Gulbrandsen and Hazel Paxton Centner, a showgirl and dancer who owned and taught at the Paxton School of Dance in Norwalk. A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 28th, at 11:30 AM at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue, Norwalk. Friends may visit beginning at 10 AM. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery, 81 Riverside Avenue, Norwalk. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Circle of Care for families of children with cancer(thecircleofcare.org) or Tabby’s Place Cat Sanctuary (tabbysplace.org).
