Betty J. Downer, age 84, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2023 at Lord Chamberlain Manor. She was born on August 16, 1939 in Dayton, Ohio to the late Nick J. Downer and Ruth Moore Downer. Betty attended Morgan State University and American Academy McAllister Institute of Funeral Service. She retired from Boehringer Ingelheim after many years of employment where she served as a research chemist and maintained her funeral director’s license in honor of her family’s legacy, Downer Funeral Home. She had a deep love for her siblings and her pet dog Princess. Her memory will be cherished by her two sisters; Phyllis Y. Downer and Gail E. Downer, three nieces; Simone Downer, Marrian Warren (Jon) and Sonia Downer Pirro (Randie) and numerous great nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. In addition to her parents, Betty was predeceased by her brother, George M. Downer. A graveside service will be held on Monday, October 23, 2023 at 12:00 noon at Riverside Cemetery 81 Riverside Ave. Norwalk, Connecticut.
